The famous Samaria Gorge, a jewel in Crete’s White Mountains, is an unforgettable adventure. One of Europe’s longest, Samaria gorge spans 16 kilometers and offers a challenging yet rewarding hike that typically takes 5-6 hours to complete.
Our journey begins at the trailhead on the Ksyloskalo Omalos plateau, where we begin our descent from an altitude of 1,200 meters.
Throughout the walk you’ll pass through breathtaking scenery with small lakes, massive rock formations carved by the river and lush greenery. As you make your way through the gorge, the scenery will leave you in awe, with breathtaking views at every turn.
At the end of the gorge, you’ll be greeted by the sight of the Libyan Sea and the charming village of Agia Roumeli. Here you’ll have plenty of time to swim in the crystal clear waters and enjoy a bite to eat.
The excursion concludes with a scenic boat ride to Chora Sfakion where our coach will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation, marking the end of an incredible day of exploration and natural beauty.
Located in the heart of the White Mountains, the Samaria Gorge is the largest gorge in Europe and offers breathtaking views of the natural environment.
